Benefit highlights
MilTax –
MilTax is free for military members, including Reserve and National Guard and anyone who has retired in the past 12 months. It is completely free for complex federal returns and up to three state returns, and: It’s actually H&R Block’s online tax prep software.
Head over to Military OneSource to verify your eligibility and get started.
GI Bill decision – MGIB reinstatement –
The Rudisill Supreme Court decision recently reinstated Montgomery GI Bill eligibility for anyone who qualified for both Post-9/11 GI Bill and Montgomery GI Bill through separate periods of service. Read about eligibility here.
Per month, MGIB typically pays out a lesser amount than Post-9/11. However, if you use all 36 months of Post-9/11 it sounds like you can then use 12 months of MGIB for a total of 48. If you think you might qualify, we encourage you to fill out VA Form 22-1995 to request a formal determination.
Be sure to select that you are requesting a Rudisill review on page two of the online application.

Other traditional Guard or Reserve members are not eligible.
